How does this work?
What are my options?
There are several ways you can use our service, depending on your situation. We've explained them below showing the pros and cons for each. We can hold up to twelve passengers and their bikes!
Carspotting
What is Carspotting? It is when we assist you in leaving your car at the END of your adventure. The idea is that you enjoy the trail and END where your car is parked.
How it works: Drop off your party and all your equipment where you plan to START. Then have ONE PERSON drive to the END where you plan to finish. Leave your vehicle there and the Shuttle will pick up this person and bring them back to the start point where the rest of the party is. Then, you all travel down the trail together and finish where your vehicle is! THIS IS BEST FOR LARGE GROUPS STARTING EARLY IN THE DAY.
Pros:
oOnly one person is necessary from your party to make this work
oLeast expensive option
oRSVP guarantees a seat in the van (provided you are on time)
oNo hauling of bikes and equipment
oEnd where your vehicle is
oNo waiting on the shuttle or wondering if it is really running after you've rode the trail!
Cons:
Members of your party will have to wait up to two hours for you to return (You have to drive to the end then take the shuttle back)
Carfetching
Carfetching uses the same principles as above however one member of your party will ride the shuttle BACK to your starting point AFTER you've ridden the Kal-Haven Trail. Your party will wait for you until you return. THIS IS BEST FOR LARGE GROUPS THAT START LATER IN THE DAY.
Pros:
oOnly one person is necessary from your party to make this work
oLeast expensive option
oNo hauling of bikes and equipment
oYou don't have to plan an extra two hours before your adventure
Cons:
Members of your party will have to wait up to two hours for you to return
(You have to ride the shuttle back to fetch your car and drive back to pick everyone up). If this was the case in South Haven, they are less than a mile from shopping and amenities they could visit while waiting to be fetched.
If you miss your RSVP or posted time, you'll have to wait up to THREE hours until the next shuttle and only if there is room will you be able to ride.
Ride then Shuttle Back
Start your adventure at any time and then entire party rides the shuttle back to your starting point. We will carry all your bikes and equipment back to the starting point. THIS IS BEST FOR THOSE who live/staying in KALAMAZOO as it is a downhill ride from Kalamazoo to South Haven.
Pros:
Downhill ride from Kalamazoo
You can start your ride at any time
If you time it to end just before the shuttle leaves, best use of your time
If there are two in your party, it's still convenient, saves time, saves gas.
Cons:
If you miss your shuttle (whether or not you have an RSVP) you'll be waiting up to THREE (3) hours for the next shuttle!
More costly than carspotting as we charge per person
Shuttle then Ride Back
Load up your bikes and equipment on the shuttle and we'll take you to your starting point. You'll be dropped off and ride back to where your car is waiting for you. THIS IS BEST FOR THOSE WHO LIVE/STAY IN SOUTH HAVEN as it is a downhill ride to South Haven.
Pros:
Downhill ride from Kalamazoo
This is the most cost effective use of your time
RSVP guarantees a spot in the van
You'll ride back and your vehicle will be there waiting for you
No need for someone to fetch you later
No waiting on the shuttle after your ride
Cons:
If you miss your shuttle (whether or not you have an RSVP) you'll be waiting up to THREE (3) hours for the next shuttle!
More costly than carspotting / carfetching
